Interesting and thought provoking comment on life and work in London

Simple things make a difference

without comments

Life goes up and down! This morning was down. But on the train, which normally is very uneventful, something happened, sitting down next to a smiley 30 something black woman her attitude impacted upon me. She smiled as I sat down and so I decided to be polite, it was hot so rather than assuming I had the right to just open the window I asked her, yes spoke to someone on the train. Little esle was said on our journey, but when I sneezed she said bless you, I said thank you and from this I began to rather like the person I was sat next to. On waiting to exit the train at Victoria she did not rush, push or jostle, but politely passed comment on the rat race of scurrying and pushing that surrounded us. This lady made me feel uplifted and made me promise to myself that I would be selfless and benevolent for the rest of the day. I am not religious but on entering the tube I felt oddly at peace – much more than I had the previous day and that morning.

To the random black lady sat next to me this morning, thank you.
